Anna Beth posted such a lovely post about the change into autumn... But still. IT'S COLD! AND IT'S GOING TO GET COLDER. WHY IS IT OCTOBER?!?!?!?!?!?! Beautiful weather in September spoiled us all...
There are a few perks to it getting cold. One is that it's now boot season! I dearly love slipping on a pair of beautiful high heeled boots with jeans, a pea coat, and a scarf wrapped snugly around my neck. If it's a milder day, I'll choose a pair of more warm-tone fall-type boots as opposed to a darker wintery pair. Plus they're flattering on pretty much everyone. Can you tell I could wax on and on about this? ;)
The other is that it's now scarf and coat season!!! It's 40s-50s here in Columbus, so currently it's either North Face jacket cold or large comfy sweatshirt cold. Still, there's always an opportunity to finger through my scarf collection and rediscover fluffy wool scarves or lighter layering scarves. I also recently invested in some $1 scarf hangers from Target (they say belt hangers, but they would hold 4X the scarves as their actual scarf hangers). I love seeing the various colors hanging in my closet: it's so fun to look through them and choose one for the day.
I'm also looking forward to using my wood-burning fireplace for the first time!! There's nothing quite like sitting by a wood fire, feeling the warmth and gazing into the flames. Ah, bliss.
The first snowfall is also something to be excited about! I'm praying that winter in Columbus will not be too terrible. Apparently last winter was the worst they've had in decades, so surely history wouldn't repeat itself twice in a row?! I have already reserved a carport for my car, so I won't have to wake up in the morning and shovel snow off of my car. Unfortunately, my parking lot at work is just an open lot, so I may need to shovel snow off of my car after the work day. Still, that's a lot better than doing it at 7:30am!
We're going old-school for the song of the week! John Denver always said that this was his first and best song, and I'm quite a fan of it. I hope you will be too :)
With many, many warm hugs,
Amber
