This week overall has been chock full of friendship. Be prepared for some parentheses. As Anna Beth mentioned, she came to surprise Amy, Nayab, and me at the dorm. (I have my Anna Beth back!) And Tuesday the fencing club had a movie night together. We watched ‘By the Sword’ (which was pretty good) and the old Three Musketeers movie (which I still don’t really understand) followed by a sleepover with Amy, Sara, Anna Beth, Amber, and myself (wherein everyone else went to bed at 4:30 but Amy and I had to stay up to finish a paper due Wednesday that took longer than expected – aka until 8am. It’s weird to write a paper as the sun rises). On Wednesday Shelby came to pick up *coughstealcough* Anna Beth and Sara and hangout for a little bit. Thursday was the official last fencing practice of the semester (which I’m kinda sad about. I’m gonna miss fencing, but probably not enough to continue running – no one show that to Stephen :P) And of course Friday and Saturday are spent in Shelbyville (not literally, just pretend that’s not a really a city and it’s perfectly clear what I meant).
So, Amy and I discovered that despite being done with bird observations, we still find ourselves drawn to doing it, albeit not chickadees. (And here I thought I’d never talk about chickadees again, pfft) We were walking around campus with Nayaab and came across this bird performing either mating or territorial displays. It was actually pretty cool to watch. That bird’s vocal range was way larger and cooler than a chickadee’s, too. He totally should’ve gotten all the girls. We decided to name it Brutus Waynus (because we couldn’t decide whether Bruce Wayne or Brutus were more appropriately masculine). [click here to listen to and watch Brutus Waynus]
And somewhat speaking of chickadees, you’ll never guess what I found in the garage (spoken in New Zealand accent) last Saturday. Bird seed. And not just any bird seed; bird seed that was to specifically draw chickadees (and a few other bird species, but that’s beside the point). Apparently my mom was looking for stuff to draw birds and butterflies and it was completely coincidental about the chickadees.
This morning was my last time in Room 219 of Minton. I had my last final Thursday morning and managed to move all my stuff home.
The awesomeness of this week is definitely the fulfillment of Anna Beth’s, Shelby’s, and Amy’s 'punishments'. All of them missed a blog or a vlog and it was a about time they made up for it. It was awesome. (Be prepared Rachael and Amber. You all are next! :P)
