Happy 2012
Woohoo! It’s 2012! The year the world is going to end! Because who can possibly question the validity of an ancient Mayan doomsday prediction, right? One quintessential New Year tradition is making resolutions. I hadn’t really intended to make any, but I really want 2012 to be a year of improving my relationship with God, especially in determining how I can live my life for Him. The main thing I’m looking at right now, of course, is working at camp this summer, but all I can do at the moment is pray about it and wait out the excruciating months until I find out whether I get the job. Camp or no camp, though, I’m looking forward to whatever 2012 has in store. Like our adventure chronicles project! I’ve already enjoyed Shelby’s and Amy’s posts, and I can’t wait to see what everyone else has planned for our inaugural week!
Question Tuesday
Speaking of our blog project, in your perusal of the little info bar to your right, you may have noticed that Tuesdays are Question Tuesdays! They’re also Taco Tuesdays, but that’s not relevant at the moment. What puts the “question” in Question Tuesdays, you ask? Well, you may have heard that phrase “too much of a good thing.” In one of our frequent deep, philosophical discussions, Jill and I were pondering whether it is, in fact, possible to have too much of anything. The answer, of course, is yes! Such an answer will inevitably bring about challenges to its accuracy, so my goal as part of my weekly blogs is to demonstrate that it really is possible to have too much of anything by responding to whatever stuff you guys can come up with for me. So start suggesting stuff! Por ejemplo, is it possible to have too much God? And from a carnal, life-preserving point of view, it certainly is. Just look at Moses! He wanted to see God, but God made him hide behind a rock as He passed by, because “no one may see (God) and live” (Exodus 33:20). From a Christian perspective, we’re always seeking to get to know and understand God better, but there is a limit to what we, as humans, can achieve. We couldn’t understand a fraction of what it means to BE God without our brains frying like Irina Spalko’s in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (to reference what may possibly be Anna Beth’s least favorite movie of all time :).
So, I think that’s about it for me. I hope everyone’s enjoying the New Year so far, and I’m looking forward to Rachael’s Creeper Wednesday blog tomorrow!
