As my title states, I haven't done much lately, but I have been making a few plans for the upcoming weeks. I was invited to an informal luncheon for the international students next Wednesday (yay free food!) and Colin (an elderly gentleman who helps run Free Pancake Night) said he would "spot us some fish n' chips" on the 26th-- he says he knows where to get the best in New Zealand. I also made plans to go to Burger Fuel with Jenna this Friday, and maybe I'll be able to join her residence hall's event to go play laser tag.
I also recently started the countdown to the end of the semester. Can you believe I only have TEN days of class left?! I can't believe it myself! I only have 1 day of class in June, then we get off for the Queen's birthday (June 4th in case you wanted to know), the next week is called "Study Break" (can you guess what we're suppose to be doing?), and finals go on for the 2 weeks after that. I'm sure my time here is going to fly by! But now I can honestly say I'm ready to come home.
Now on to brighter things and more future plans! Concerning our road trip-- I think I'm most looking forward to is the lobster/chowder dinner in Maine (Is that kinda weird?) I guess what I see in my mind are us to dressing up a little, like in sun dresses, and splurging a little and going to a nicer restaurant that overlooks the ocean. If that doesn't happen, then I'm not going to be heart broken, but that's just what I see *shrugs* Other than that, I'm also looking forward to the night drives. When we drove at night during our road trip of the South Island, I really loved it (the night sky here is GORGEOUS I really wish I could take a perfect photo of it--you can easily see the Milky Way!). I mean, I love driving at night anyway, especially with the less traffic, but if your with friends it's just seems a lot more...intimate? Is that the word I'm looking for? So..yeah..oh yeah, I also really want to go to Harry Potter World if we can :)
I guess now's the time to start talking about souvenirs. I'm sorry that I don't have enough money to bring everyone a t-shirt, so I was going to bring back a whole bunch of New Zealand food. My food list so far has things like burger rings, chicken chips, pineapple lumps, and (of course) different kinds of tim tams that you can't find in the US. So, I was thinking after I get back if we all want to get together and have a picnic/lunch where you guys can sample authentic New Zealand food. Does this sound good? (Feel free to try to google New Zealand food, and I'll try to find it to bring back--but it has to be processed so I can take it through customs at the airport). I also learned how to make the pancakes I keep talking about if you guys want.
I guess that's all I have to say...
Rachael
p.s. I'm really jealous of the weather you guys seem to be having, yea, I saw
