Love Triangles...It's a Love Hate Relationship

Hello from I shouldn't be blogging because I have much to be doing right now,

Today's topic is about love triangles. Ah love triangles..they have existed since the dawn of time, but lately they have become more popular.  Some popular love triangles lately have been 
Edward/Bella/Jacob (Twilight s series)
Peeta/Katniss/Gale (The Hunger Games)
Will/Tessa/Jem (The Infernal Devices)

Now these are all books..love triangles are also in movies and TV shows...heck we saw a love triangle in yesterday's Once Upon a Time episode between Princess Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty, Prince Phillip, and Mulan....though I think it's lame because we all know Aurora is Phillip's t rue love.

However, all the love triangles I have mentioned above and have ever come across have all had an ending. Bella picked Edward. Katniss picked Peeta. Phillip better pick  Aurora (sorry Mulan), except for one love triangle that has been in debate since 1997. This love triangle has no ending and the creators refuse to say who the true love is and that is why for 15 long years video game nerds from all over have been debating who is Cloud Strife's true love from the best selling RPG game ever Final Fantasy VII.  Now introducing our cast. 

NOTE: I am going to go picture crazy and Final Fantasy is beautiful and in depth with character history. That being said I don't know where to begin on any of the characters. So if you want to know more I will give the link to their final fantasy wiki pages. 

Cloud Strife: (This man never smiles just saying. He did once, but certain events in the game have made him an anti social emo)

Tifa Lockhart: The kick ass childhood friend of Cloud who is a professional martial artist and bar tender. She has had feelings for him since childhood but was always to shy to say hence the name "Lockhart." Name pronounced Tee-fah.

Aerith Gainsborough: An outgoing, and kind flower girl who ironically meets Cloud the same way she met her first love. Events take place and she finds herself traveling with Cloud and companions trying to save the world. Also known as Aeris. http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Aerith_Gainsborough

and now time for story time. I will begin with the story of a young man who wanted to be a hero. This man was named Hercules....LOL not really. This young man is named Zack: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Zack_Fair

funny though in Kingdom Hearts the Final Fantasy and Disney cross over video game Zack is in Olympus Coliseum training with Hercules to become a hero. 

Anyways Zack is in this elite group known as SOLIDER and though SOLIDER is a fish group with dark secrets, Zack is a pure young man who wants to help those in need and become first class, He is second class in that picture. Anyways on one of his missions he falls through the ceiling of the sector 5 slums church and falls on none other than Aerith's flower bed. and well this video tells all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY3-6woAcEU

She is 16. He is 17. and from there young love blossoms. He is Aerith's first love.  They do go on their date. He buys her that ribbon she is wearing in the picture.  Over the course of two years Zack's mentor/father figure dies, he cries, Aerith comforts him, his physical appearance changes, and he gets promoted to first class, but he is too busy for Aerith. He always tries to make time for her though.  He promises to build her a wagon so she can sell her flowers and make money, he promises that when he comes back from his last mission he will spend more time with her, and he tells her she looks good in pink  (she hates pink) she wears pink everyday since he leaves on his last mission hoping to surprise him when he comes back.  But he doesn't. Zack dies on his way back to reunite with Aerith. It has been five years since Zack has seen Aerith. She has been waiting, but eventually gives up and thinks Zack left her for another woman because before Zack met Aerith he was  a big flirt. Age of Death 23.

However, while Zack and Aerith's young love was blossoming a young boy named Cloud  (age 16) had a crush on the mayor 's daughter, Tifa (age 15). One day they met at their secret place and he promised her he would become a first class solider and she makes him promise to rescue her when she was ever in trouble. Tifa begins to check the papers everyday to see if Cloud has made it to first class and is constantly thinking about him.  Cloud goes to SOLIDER but doesn't ever make it past a runt. He does however become best friends with Zack. One day Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth the best solider ever are assigned to do a mission in Cloud's hometown. Cloud is embarrassed that he is not first like he promised Tifa so he wears a helmet the whole time so Tifa wouldn't notice him. On this mission Sephiroth finds out he is an experiment, he goes crazy, and burns down the whole town and kills everyone in it. He doesn't kill Tifa though because Cloud did save  her.  Zack tries to stop him. Fails. Gets beat up along with Cloud. SOLIDER scientists find them and begin t experiment on their bodies for five years. They escape, they are branded traitors by SOLIDER, and Zack dies saving Cloud on his way back to see Aerith. It was risky for them to go back to that city since they are wanted, but Zack really wanted to see Aerith.

Also Cloud was poisoned and confused before Zack's death so when Zack dies, Cloud begins to think he is Zack. 

Cloud reunites with Tifa. He forgot his feelings for her because he thinks he is Zack.  He begins to work with Tifa who is now 20 and trying to stop the corruptness of solider. She is a bar tender but the bar is really a secret hide out. On one of their missions Cloud meets Aerith. Aerith is instantly attracted to him because he reminds of her of Zack except where Zack was warm and friendly, Cloud is aloof and arrogant. he thinks he is number one even though he isn't. Events take place and Aerith discovers Cloud isn't who he claims to be she begins to fall in love with the real Cloud who has self issues but tragically dies when Sephiroth stabs her in the stomach/heart (game isn't specific). While Aerith is still alive Tifa also notices Cloud isn't himself, and eventually helps him regain his true memories and encourages him to fight even if he is not the hero he thought he was. After Cloud saves the world though he is depressed that Aerith died and Zack died. Tifa helps him start over. They adopt two orphans and raise them, and Cloud begins smiling and joking again and after more chaos he moves on with his life with Tifa and their kids.  He claims he can finally move on because Tifa is here with him. and stuff.  He visits Zack's grave and sees Aerith's ghost and finally has found peace. However, the love triangle was never solved. Who does Cloud Strife really love? Did he love the flower girl who made him smile when he was confused about who he was, or the childhood friend who has always been there for him encouraging him and knows the real man he truly is? The game creators said the game was never a love story so its ambiguous who Cloud truly loves and Cloud never comes out and says it either. He gives hints to both girls (more to Tifa) but never admits his feelings aside from I can move on as long as you're with me crap.  The creators wont say either because they don't want to lose fans. Its pretty evenly dived between Clerith and Cloti. I personally feel that Zack and Aerith were true lovers ans Cloud and Tifa are. Cloud is also shy like Tifa so they are never going to get anywhere but it works for them. They have both been scarred and need time. Aerith and Zack were both extroverted and got along well. I do see where the Aerith and Cloud shippers come from but its not as strong as Cloud and Tifa and let's face it. Aerith is dead. Tifa is alive. Tifa is a babe and Cloud can't raise kids with her and live with her and stuff and not eventually fall in love with her all over again. Clerith fans argue. It's hell. So who do you think loves  who.
