Again, I’m sorry I put up a “cheat” post last night- but can you blame me for wanting to spend more time with Mark and his family before they left today? Huh? Can ya? I thought not. :P lol Technically, I did put up the minimum, thus avoiding punishment… ;) Still, that’s not fair, so that’s why I’m posting my actual blog now! Yay! (but if I do deserve punishment, I accept it graciously… because it was worth being with Mark ^_^ )
Aaaaaaaaaand, as you read above, if you weren’t already aware, Mark and his family visited this weekend! I was so thrilled to see Mark –I missed him a lot!– and finally meet the rest of his family! His mom was just as sweet as she seemed from talking on the phone, and his little sister Krista was… well, I don’t know how to describe her cuteness except in squealing. So she’s so EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! CUTE! =D
That being said, we didn’t do a whole lot of different things… After all, it is Bowling Green. lol I did still make sure to take him out to Western… just because… and meeting with Anna Beth, Rachael, Jill, and Sara at Stakz on Saturday afternoon was awesome! I’m so glad y’all got to meet Mark- and he loved meeting you all too! :) Maybe you’ll see him again with ROMP… maybe? maybe? Who knows ;) Speaking of which, Sanaa and I really need to get planning on that- when we’re both back in KY/TN lol.
The rest of the time we pretty much spent just hanging out and talking… Which, if I’m being honest, was the best part of him being here. I’ve just missed talking with him, especially when he was in Bangladesh for so long. Now he’s in the US, so Skype is available whenever we need it. I do love modern technology!
Now to what I have to look forward to… *drum roll* I’m going to Colorado Friday! I’m pretty excited to see my brother and his family again, but I’ve been steeling myself to see the destruction from the wildfire out there just 2 weeks after it hit. Thankfully, as of today it is 98% contained… so it’s almost over. It’s hard to think that a natural disaster can stretch for such a long period, but it has just been difficult for the firefighters to get it under control. I’m not sure if I mentioned it to you all, but thankfully my brother’s house was spared! Unfortunately, his neighbors directly to the left of his house did lose everything… To me, it is unfathomable how one house can not be touched and yet the other house completely destroyed. I just thank God that their house was ok, and we’re hoping to give his neighbors a quilt as a way of saying more than just “We’re sorry” and not doing anything about it… Hopefully it will come to good use.
Again, I should have internet access out there. I think. I’m just going to have to play it by ear, but hopefully a blog will be posted next Saturday- I apologize in advance if I’m unable to do so, but I think things will be ok… I just don’t know about power lines and cable lines / dish network / everything out there simply because of the fire. So we’ll see.
I wish I had more to tell you guys that is more than just “oh, this happened and this will happen,” but everything’s just kind of at a good pace in my internship, and Mark coming was the best part of my week. As you could likely tell ;)
My song of the week is actually opposite of my week being wonderful… but it’s been stuck in my head for so long simply because it really captures those moments where you say nothing and later regret not speaking… which has been happening less than it used to for me since I’m starting to get more out of my shell, but it still happens. Still, it’s a beautiful ballad, and Skylar Grey is a bit off the beaten path, but she does have connections primarily from being a popular songwriter (“Love the Way You Lie”) and doing some vocal work on other songs (“Coming Home”). Her voice is kind of haunting in this, which suits the song perfectly, and I hope you enjoy something a little (just a little) bit different from what I’ve posted previously.
Have a great week you all—and I’ll post next from Colorado!
