Hello from the end of the semester!!!!
I think I’m basically done packing so now I’m relaxing and listening to some music (specifically FUN at the moment) with Sara as we watch Anna Beth pack her stuff. My semester actually ended yesterday, so I’ve just gotten to lay around most of today.
Ugh, I have to wake up so eaaarrrrllllllyyyyy tomorrow :(
As Rachael mentioned, we’re going to a fencing tournament up in Louisville. *sigh* I guess I should be used to waking up at 5am from last semester.
Sara, AB, and I are now discussing whether it would be better to not be able to make new memories or not have memories from the first 20 years of life. A gem from the conversation: “When things get too hard to think about, just play Kesha”. We’re now listening to “Die Young”
Oh, and if you all haven’t watching Becoming YouTube, you totally should!!!! It’s awesome and I can’t wait for more of it to be available.
Ok, I’m gonna go enjoy the rest of my night now (Anna Beth just fell on the floor and said “glorious food!”) I think we’re gonna make some mac and cheese and have a last family dinner of the semester.

Here, have some Christmas joy:

I have some more interesting things planned for the blog for next (hopefully), so you can (maybe) look forward to that.

Love,
Jill

Hello from finals week! You know, that time of year when it's a great idea to watch an entire tv series in 5 days. Yep, the highlight of my week has been watching Firefly, and tonight we wrapped it all up by watching the post-series movie Serenity. And now there's no more, because the show got cancelled after 14 episodes (well, 11 actually, but the DVD included 3 unaired episodes). :(  Oh well, it was fun while it lasted...and at least there are still the commentaries to watch!
But in all seriousness, I have been working really hard on tons of papers. I don't want you to think I've just been slacking off (especially since you read this blog, Momma). This week in total, I've turned in about six assignments, and I still have one to do before tomorrow at 3. Then I am SOOOOOO done with this semester, and I can finally use this gif!
In other news, the short film I've been working on all semester FINALLY premiered on Wednesday, and I never, ever, ever have to see it again! Like, ever.......And....it actually wasn't sooo baaaad.....
I was going to do another Christmas themed post, but then life happened and I have to write a script now, so

Hello from bushy hair!
Picture
Okay, it was a bit crazier when I first took it out I my sock bun that I learned to do yesterday, but it's still pretty unmanageable at the moment. Actually I'm sitting at Jill's desk and talking with Anna Beth and Jill about our fabulous road trip (sorry if I'm going to be obnoxious taking about it so much). We just got on to the topic of rules of the car, what snacks we should have, and when do we want to eat at a sit-down resteraunt. The rule that Jill and AB came up with, the one that was the conversation starter, was "anything on the road trip can be filmed (unless you're naked)."
On a different note, I didn't have any finals this week :) all I had to do was turn in a final project on Monday for Design Studio and I finished a dress for myself today for Dress Aparrel Construction.
Picture
Picture
Actually, to tell the truth, it's still not perfect. I did most of it myself (as in,
My teacher wasn't there to help), and I got it done so I could turn it in, but my teacher later gave me a few instructions so I could make it perfect.
I'll be working a lot this week-- and all week next week (10-6 Monday through Saturday). But it really is a wonderful place to be :)
Jill, Cameron, Chris, and I are all going to a fencing meet this Saturday up in Louisville! We'll be fencing épée, which unfortunately has been scheduled to begin at 9am. With the time change, we have to leave at 5:15am :(
And of course THE HOBBIT comes out tomorrow night!!!!! I can't wait to go with my friend Mackenzie at midnight! Weeee!
Anyway, that's all my news and stuff.
With us luck at the tournament on Saturday and continue to wish me luck on the drum major candidacy thing until they give out the names (around mid-to late January :(
Yeah
The Hobbit
Peace out!
Rachael

PS
What do you guys think about doing one vlog a week and alternate weeks? Like Jill does the week of January 5th, Sara does week of January 12th, etc.?

Hello all from an unexpected blogger!

Munchkin's coming to St. Looey this Saturday!!! Wheeee!!! I'm extremely excited--I have so much to show her!

Furthermore, I'm going to be leaving for Santiago, Chile on January 9th! Crazy! I've learned about my family (an older couple with baby grandkids! Eeeeeee!!!!), where I'll be living, and a lot more! I'll be coming back to the US on July 14th a changed woman! Maybe.

Watch this! One of my precious Ghost Lights made it for me!

Hello from finals week :/ I’ve actually finished with half of my classes by this point, but the ones that are left are the actual tests that I have to study and prepare for. And write a ten page research paper for… Plus I was sick all weekend, so any productivity that would otherwise have happened went completely down the drain as I chose instead to sit in the living room with a box of Kleenexes and quite a lot of NCIS re-runs. And Disney movies. Can’t forget Disney movies :)
So, anyway, I’m going to try and make this blog pretty fast, because my Art Final is at 6 tonight, so I have stuff that I should be doing.

Jill:
The Zombie Apocalypse has started? Do you go north, south, inland, or to the
coast?

Umm, to the coast, I guess. Zombies can’t swim, right? So I feel like that would be pretty good defensive strategy. Plus, since I’m already headed to the coast, I can just pick the Florida coast, and visit Disney and Orlando on the way :) (even if it means I may get attacked by zombie hoards while there, if real life is anything like Zombieland).
When’s your last final? You should come hang out with us when you’re done with
stuff.

My last final is Friday at 10:30. I should :)
What’s your favorite cereal?
Cocoa Rice Crispies. They’re chocolatey and delicious!
Who’s your favorite character in Fiddler on the roof?
Umm… I don’t really remember any of the characters from that musical… except for the dad. So… I pick him.
If you could be any character in Fiddler on the roof, who would you be?
One of the daughters?
If you could be the lead actress in any musical, what would you pick?
Either Phantom of the Opera or Beauty and the Beast. Probably Beauty and
the Beast
. There’s no way I could hit the range of notes Christine has to sing. Or do opera. Though, now that I’m thinking about it, the two musicals do have several elements in common- one girl being fought over by two guys, the scarier of the two kidnaps her but he ends up being the better guy… possibly because he’s Gerard Butler and you just can’t not love Gerard
Butler…

Anna Beth:
What are some fun things you’re looking forward to doing now that you’ll have free time on Christmas break?
Free time? I still have 4 books to read… But after that, I have quite a lot of Disney VHS’s calling my name. Like, I can watch the first 5 or 6 Land before Time movies!
Have you done any Christmas shopping this year?
…totally… I always get these things done waaay ahead of time… on a completely related note, what do you guys want for Christmas?
What’s your favorite book you’ve read so far on your 30 books list?
The last Artemis Fowl :) I mean, really, there’s no competition- I really love that series, and sad as I was to see that this is the last installment, I still really loved the book.
What’s your favorite children’s book?
By children’s book, I’m going to presume you mean picture book, since my reading choices still include a lot of what may be considered young adult or independent reading (see previous
question).
So anyway- Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! Is super awesome. I remember absolutely loving that as a kid, and I know we still have a copy lying around the house somewhere. I also really like Dr. Seuss (like any kid born in the last 80 years), but there are too many good ones to choose from.
What realistic way do you think you’ll meet your future husband?
I figure it would probably be in school or something, either while I’m in college or after I start teaching. Or maybe at church? But really, where else do I go that I would meet anybody?
What are some ways you fantasize about meeting your future husband (realistic or not)?
VidCon :P
There’s a poor guy who physically can’t have kids and if you marry him you know you won’t have enough money to adopt. Or there’s a well off guy who really wants kids and can have them just fine. You’re madly in love with the first guy. You’re friends with the second one and you get along well enough. He loves you but you don’t feel the spark, but like I said, you’re close friends. They both want to marry
you. Who do you choose?

As sad as I would be about the no kids thing, I would still have to go with the guy I love. Being friends with someone and wanting to marry them just don’t mix- it would be bad for him because the woman he loves is so… apathetic about him, and it would be bad for me because I’d feel bad about not loving my husband and also not be in love. It’s just not a good situation.
Why are hypothetical questions so much fun?
Because they exercise your brain?
Do you think that God has one guy picked out for you, or do you think there are a number of acceptable guys He distributes through your life and you get to pick?
I don’t know. I think He has one guy in mind for you, but it’s still up to you to make it work or else totally screw it up.
Which is worse: to have high expectations for true love and possible end up alone because you just keep looking for something better, or to possibly settle because you’re in a good relationship and you’re not sure you could find something better? And by “settle,” I don’t mean you’re settling for a mediocre guy, but you’re just not sure he’s the best you can find.
That sounds more like cold feet than settling to me. Settling is when you know someone isn’t right for you and you marry him anyway because you’re afraid the right guy will never come. If he’s a good guy and you have a good relationship, then I don’t see why there’s any reason to look for something “better-” if you love each other, then why wouldn’t you want to be together forever? Sure, you may be scared that you’ll get married and it’ll turn out that you made the wrong decision and he isn’t right for you, but I’m pretty sure that happens to just about everyone on their wedding day. So I’d say it’s worse to get cold feet and let the love of your life go.
Do you want to watch Firefly? Because we’re all addicted to it now, and you should join us!
That’s by Joss Whedon, right? I don’t actually know what it’s about, but sure :)
If you had to choose one, would you rather join the military and have to be in active combat…like legit, dangerous military stuff for lots of years of your life, OR go to the colony on Mars with only 9 other people at first (they’ll add more later) and have to live the rest of your life there?
Ick… I would probably have to choose Mars, because I don’t think I could make it through boot camp, much less years and years of combat.
What’s your favorite play/musical?
Do you really have to ask? Phantom of the Opera! It’s the best!
What’s your favorite play/musical that you’ve been in?
Seussical :) Cause, you know, it’s Seuss. In musical form. You can’t get any better than that.
What are some of your fondest memories from being in musicals in high school?
Backstage antics and fun :)
Do you miss being in musical theater and secretly long to be up on stage every time you go see a show?
I did really like it, but my favorite parts weren’t the being on stage parts. I liked the whole process and getting to know all the details of the play and see everything come together. It was crazy and chaotic, but really worth it to see the end result.
If you could give WKU a different mascot, what would it be and why?
The White Squirrel! It’d be perfect, cause they’re so cute and all over campus! Plus they’re… small and seemingly easy to defeat, but when you back them into a corner they get dangerous? Idk, but I really think that a squirrel mascot would be super awesome.
Do you realize that “and why” is always implied with my questions?
Oh, really? Why would you want to know why? :P

So that’s it for questions. I should get back to
  finals week chaos now. Bye!

Love,

Sara

Hello from the last day of class of the semester! (for Western anyway!) It’s a little bitter sweet since finals are next week (of which I have 3 + 1 online final + 1 more final paper).
Two of my classes were actually canceled today, so my last day of class consisted solely of Latin, which is perfectly ok with me. The professor brought in donuts (crustulum) for us and spent the first few minutes watching funny Latin videos before reviewing for the final. Sadly he forgot to bring in How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Latin edition. I realized today how much I’m going to miss that class. The people in there are awesome and funny, and though the language is more difficult than others I’ve had, it’s also just more interesting and fun too. For instance, normally language classes teach you words like ‘yes’, ‘no’, and ‘please’ pretty early on. Not us, lol. We learned them on literally the last day.

                Non = no
                Sic = yes
                Amabo te = please

Though technically those are just the English equivalents. Sic really mean ‘thus’, but is basically used as ‘yes’, and ‘amabo te’ essentially means ‘I will love you [if you….]’
Oh, and we also learned ‘shut up’ and some other choice words because my professor’s awesome.
                Tace = shut up
Stercum = hehe, wouldn’t you like to now. Btw, if you’re ever in Cherry Hall and hear someone shout that, you’ll know, haha.
So instead of learning those kinds of words, we were more likely to read and translate sentences about farmers and poets, lol. Here are few examples I pulled from my workbook:

Cur ab Italia vela dabat? Nam Italia erat patria poetae.
Why did he set sail for Italy? For Italy was the country of the poet.

Servus ferrum habet, sed aurum habere optat.
The slave has iron, but he desires to have gold.

Quid est agrum bene colere? Bene arare. Quid est secundum? Arare. Quid tertium? Stercorare.
What is it to tend the field well? You must plow well. What is second? To plow. What is third? To spread manure (though if you’ll notice the similarity of stercorare and stercum, you may wish to give it…a different meaning, lol).

But today in class we focused more on conjugation of verbs for the upcoming final. So we conjugated amo, amare (to love) into every tense we’ve learned this year. We learned 9 tenses. Each tense has 6 versions for number and person. So we wrote out 56 different conjugations of amo (there are of course far more conjugations still left to learn :P)…and then proceded to chant through them because we like to let people on our floor to know what we’re learning, lol. Though we had a few hiccups because if you keep saying ama-[insert ending here] it begins to sound like “I’m a –“ in a southern redneck accent. It got particularly funny at “amabor” and once someone pointed out that amabo is Obama spelled backwards. … sigh. I’m going to miss that class. (though even if I had room for Latin 2 in my schedule, the 8:00am-ness is enough of a deterrent)

Ok, I’ve talked about Latin enough for one day. And I think we’re about to go out to eat to celebrate the end of classes. Until next time…

Vos amo,
Blitzen

Hello from the first Thursday of December! I think all of my blogs this month are going to be Christmas/holiday-related. Like today, I'm going to talk about reindeer! What if we were reindeer, guys? I don't know what made me think of this, but I decided to assign us reindeer identities...just because. Let me know what you think.

Dasher--Me...I'm always dashing up the hill to class lol
Dancer--Shelby...ironic, right?...Asbury
Prancer--Sanaa...sounds sassy
Vixen--Rachael...foxy lady
Comet--Munchkin...the name Comet just screams little and cute
Cupid--Amber...obviously
Donner--Amy...most likely to nom on people
Blitzen--Jill...probably sounds like the most ninja reindeer
Rudolph--Sara...because her nose is always red...from sunburn

Oops. Well. I guess I'm going to continue in the tradition of short or nonexistent blogs this week. And so, goodbye for now. Have fun being reindeer. I'm going back to watching Bride and Prejudice.

Love,
Dasher

Hello from whoops forgot to write a blog.
Nothing much happening at the moment besides wrapping up homework and projects and such. I do have my last portion of the drum major competition happening tomorrow-- the interview at 3:40 so any sort of thoughts/prayers would be appreciated. My presentati0n with Kelsey went well today on the Visual Merchandising career. Uh...what else to say? Oh yeah, I'm going to WKU's first bowl game in Detroit on Dec. 26-- I'll be there while WKU makes history. While I'm disappointing that I won't be going to Florida for Christmas (not to mention leaving 5-ish am), but at least it sounds like fun, tiring, but fun.

That's it...sorry for the short blog
the end
kthxbye

Hello from the last week of classes! Yay!!!!! Classes are finally winding down for me, which is quite nice :) I actually didn’t have a million things to do this weekend! I also have some good news- I am 25 books into my challenge list! Which means I ONLY HAVE FIVE MORE BOOKS TO READ!!!!! So here's to hoping that happens :) Other than that, though, I don’t really have much to talk about. So have some Questions!

Jill:
What’s your favorite small animal?
Hamster. Specifically, Izzie. (Assuming you weren’t including cats in the “small animal” category?)
If you were a cat, what would you look like? What kind of markings/fur would you have?
I was just going to be obvious and say I’d be brown… but then I thought about it, and you don’t really see that many brown cats. And I don’t really want to be brown. I think I’d rather be light gray on top with white belly fur. And bright green eyes. Kind of like a certain YouTuber whose videos I may or may not have been marathoning recently… And I’d be super fluffy. Like one of these kittens!
Picture
Aren’t they sooooo cute?
If the rest of us bloggers were small animals, what would you imagine us as?
Shelby- Chinchilla
Munchkin- Chipmunk
Amy- Red panda (pandas don’t really count as “small”)
Rachael- A cute little lizard (since she doesn’t like rodents)
Anna Beth- kitten (can she really be anything else? :P)
Jill- turtle (a ninja turtle… get it?
:D)
Amber- Squirrel
Sanaa- Garter snake
Would you rather live in a world with no snow or no chocolate?
GASP!!! Such worlds would be so lacking :/ But I guess I’d rather have snow than chocolate. Assuming we could actually get some snow…
Have you heard about NASA’s top secret discovery?- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTQyIIBdvfs&feature=channel&list=UL–What do you think it is?
Well now I have. And I have no idea. Water? Civilization? A clown? It could be anything.
What do you think of the apparent prominence of females in your chosen career? (as contrasted with the lack of women in a lot of other careers). And am I even right in saying there is a significant amount more women than men in [elementary] education? (are they hiding somewhere?)
Yeah, for the most part there are mostly females in the elementary education field. It’s probably a result of proliferating stereotypes- a lot of things to do with young children tend to be assumed to be more female jobs, just like engineering and science-y careers tend to be viewed as male jobs. Parents, too, are often less comfortable leaving their child with a man than a woman, though I think that has more relevance to childcare and babysitting than teaching.
Can you have too many random acts of kindness?
Ever heard the phrase “kill ‘em with kindness”?
Really, though, if you’re too trusting and take an act of kindness too far, it can be harmful to you, which would make it too much. (Hey, let me carry your bags to the car for you. *kidnapped*)
What do you want for Christmas?
Peace and goodwill on earth
If Benedict Cumberbatch is an otter and Martin Freeman is made of kittens, what does that make Tennant?
A…. guinea pig…
If you could name a town anything you wanted, what would you name it? If you are feeling particularly uncreative, you may choose from bugtussle, mooslick, monkeyspit, catbutt, or cowtoyota.
I’m gonna have to go with Bugtussle.

“Where you from?”
“Oh, you know, Bugtussle, Connecticut.”
“Really? Nice place.”
“Yup.”

Anna Beth:
Can you love children too much?
… I think you can go to jail for it, actually…

Sanaa:
How did Taco Tuesday first come into being?
Umm. We were in high school. And we were hungry. Hungry for tacos. So we ate tacos. On a Tuesday. Because it was alliterative. And Sanaa and Sam had something to do with it. Or so they say.

The end!

Love,
Sara
