Hello from Question Tuesday! Also the last week of winter break… classes are starting in exactly a week now, so I’ve started getting emails about what to bring to class and feeling obligated to read my syllabi and go buy textbooks. I haven’t done any of it yet, but it’s on my to-do list. It’s gonna happen… hopefully before Monday night. You know you’re in trouble when the semester hasn’t even started and you’re already procrastinating. But anyway! I won Question Tuesday this week, so here are the Questions you’ve all been dying to have answered!

Anna Beth
What kind of drunk do you think that you’d be (not that you’d have the opportunity to find out)?
This question is sort of brought up because of a Danisnotonfire video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=todAQtZSejg) (at least I assume so) about
people’s different reactions to alcohol- clumsiness, passing out, being excessively flirty or depressed, and so on. I personally don’t find any of the options to be very appealing, possibly because I’m a control freak and think my inhibitions are there for very good reasons, and because of this I kind of wonder if getting drunk would just make me paranoid about how the alcohol was going to affect me. I dunno, is that a thing that alcohol can do? Make you paranoid?
Which would win in a fight: a shark or a Dracula?
Probably a shark. I mean, even on land, the shark can still bite Dracula’s head off or fall on him or something, and what’s Dracula gonna do? I don’t think he can bite through shark skin. And that’s even with the locational advantage going to Dracula. In the water, the poor ole vampire wouldn’t stand a chance.
Would you really want to be famous on YouTube?
It might be cool, though I’m not sure how being a famous YouTuber would work with my actual career goal of teaching. Somehow the two don’t seem very compatible.
Would you want to be famous-famous (more so than YouTube)?
No, not really. I don’t especially like the idea of being stalked by paparazzi and criticized by the media for every decision I make.
If you had unlimited money, but you could only live in one place for the rest of your life, where would you live?
Living in one place doesn’t prevent me from travelling to other places right? Because it’d be really dumb to have the money to travel and not be able to. Anyway, if that were the case, I’d probably just live here or somewhere close where all the people I like are :)
Would you rather live in one place for the rest of your life or move around a
lot?
I think I’d rather just stay in one place. I mean, moving once or twice would probably be fine, but I wouldn’t want to be moving around all the time- I’d never be able to get close to the people living around me and things would be way more complicated. Plus if I had kids then I
wouldn’t want to make them keep switching to new schools- that’s no fun. Obviously there are all kinds of places that I want to visit, but I still want to have a constant home to return to.
How long do you think my family will keep the Christmas decorations up?

Who’s your favorite character on Firefly?
I should’ve known someone was going to ask me this question :/ But it’s not fair! I like all the people! I’d say my top three are Simon, River, and Kaley, but I’m only halfway through at this point. I don’t know enough about them to pick an ultimate favorite just yet.
Are you even enjoying Firefly, or are you just watching it because we won’t shut up?
I am actually enjoying it :) I mean, you complain about Once upon a Time just about every time I see you, AB, but that hasn’t made me any more inclined to try watching it again. Do you really think I’d keep watching, regardless of your complaints, if I didn’t like the show? 
Who’s your 2nd favorite president?
Of course. The one favorite I actually have a ready answer to and you want my next choice. Why do you do this to me?! That would probably be more dramatic if this were a vlog… Anyway, I guess… after Lincoln… I’d have to go with… Teddy Roosevelt, maybe? After all, he got Teddy Bears named after him, and he was pretty awesome, with his rough riding and his speaking softly and carrying big sticks and all.
If you could have anyone- living or dead- be your private tutor, who would you
choose?
Private tutor for what? Most of my education is already behind me, you know… I guess I’d pick someone who’s fluent in a lot of languages? Cause then I could learn all kinds of languages, and that would be cool :D
Do you think it will snow later today?
I REALLY hope so!!! Of course, my sister’s school let out an hour early, and any time the school system decides to release early that usually means that nothing will happen, but I really REALLY want some snow!
If you could have some kind of magical object, what would you have?
A wand.
Do you think you look more like Audrey Hepburn, Helena Bonham Carter, or some other celebrity?
I have no idea. I mostly think I look like myself, so I’m not really the right person to ask.

Well, I tried to rewrite our web series awhile ago. And I meant to work on that before school started back… but that hasn’t really worked out so far… stupid YouTube…
What do you think makes a good blog entry (not necessarily just for our own blog)?
Something that is interesting and engaging? And also grammatically correct. Spelling and syntax errors are irritating and off-putting.
What was the most recent daydream you had?
Well, recently I’ve been imagining what it’d be like to meet and befriend cool vloggers at VidCon. I’ve had other ones, too, but my daydreams tend to be almost as hard to explain as my real dreams.
If you could change the color of one aspect of the world (for example: make the sky green, or the ocean purple, or chocolate red) what would you change?
I’d make the road a prettier color. Because gray is really boring. Maybe I’d make it dark purple or something? That’d be kind of cool :)
If you could pick any ten books to be the curriculum for High School English, which would you pick? (I think I answered this once, but I don’t remember if anyone else did)

Do you dog-ear pages in books?
No! I like to keep my books looking perfect and nice. Which is why I feel really bad looking back at the books I annotated in high school. The exception is textbooks. Since I keep all of mine anyway, and am too lazy to take notes on what I read, I do a lot of highlighting and occasional margin scribbling. But even those I don’t dog-ear. That’s what bookmarks are for!

        Hello from Sunday.
        Though it doesn't really make sense to say this as it's only the second (or third depending on how you define the  beginning of a week) week of blogging and I haven't really made a blog as of yet, I kinda feel like I enjoy having Sunday. I mean, I loved foot-face Friday (especially because it was foot-face Friday), but Friday was almost always on the brink of something exciting happening that I would always want to blog about but couldn't because it hadn't happened yet. Sunday feels more relaxed. It's like a reset button. A whole week of things happen, often leading up to some Friday night or Saturday adventure with you all. Then Sunday is usually a relax and chill day before the cycle starts over. I'm curious if I'll still feel this way in a few weeks. (memories from a few semesters ago where Amy and I would always cram Biophysics lab work into the Sunday night before class the next day particularly come to mind. But hey, I only have one class on Mondays now, so that should be a good thing).
        So what's been up with me lately? Well, my obsession with Farscape has lasted a surprising amount of time, but I feel like I mention it enough in person (DVD commentaries are so much fun/interesting/cool).
         I put in for a volunteer position at the hospital, hopefully in the ER, this week. I have to have a background check, but hopefully they'll get back to me soon.
        Ooh, here's something really random - therefore I'm just gonna go with it because why not - If I were to ask you what causes thunder, what would your first response be? I kinda want to ask you to write it in the comments before reading further, just to see. I ask because I somehow (can't remember how now) got into this conversation with this girl about the thunderstorm that was happening today, and she said something about wondering if there was lightening outside right after a big boom of thunder. And I said something like of course there is lightening, it and thunder come together. And she was like "Not all the time". And I'm like "But that's where thunder comes from. It's a result of lightening." It turns out that she thought thunder resulted from two clouds crashing together instead of you know, real life. Thunder is sound vibrations resulting from electricity passing through the air, heating it, and making the air, well, vibrate. And that's the simplified version I remember from elementary school. I only bring it up because this girl isn't unintelligent by any means, and she insisted she learned the "clouds bumping into each other" in school. I actually had to pause and look online to make sure I was right. What were you all taught about storms? (if you remember)

        So I'm officially starting this writing challenge (if it is a challenge, or is it more of a New Years Resolution? I think I'll consider it a resolution. I won't feel as bad if I don't complete it) of writing the Log Cabin Story - one page at least a week.)

        For a little inspiration on how in the world to start a story (I've never been good at beginnings), I've been looking through my bookcase and reading the first page of each (it hasn't been very helpful), but then I ending up looking through old annotations I had to make for high school english class and thought I might as well share a few since they're kinda weird taken out of context. +10 points if you can correctly guess the book that goes with each.

On one page, I have underlined "A rat."
On another I have written, "singing women with red forearms"

Underlined: "None!--nothing but despair!"
Underlined: "No!--not to thee!--not to an earthly physician!"

Underlined: "He was naked" -- I almost didn't put this one, but considering what I wrote in margins about the whole scenario, I think it was understandable.
In a book I didn't like: "You are the embodiment of selfishness" - underneath this I drew an arrow and wrote, "no, you are" (it's fun to be snarky to books sometimes)
A few pages over, in the margins I have written "Oh snap" and "I think she's just stupid"
Elsewhere in the margins: "Ooh, drama!", "Was she not listening to the rest of what she said?", "She's tired of everybody, she's like a stupid teenager", "actually, everyone's story is humorously symbolic", "They're both idiots"
At one point I think I had a problem with how they presented the layout of a setting and then disregarded it because I circled and passage and just wrote "Nope"

In the margin: "There's no way this is a title" - pointing to a passage that lasts half a page
Underlined: "He was also lame because of breaking both his knees: not because of any excess of genuflective piety, however, but because he fell down a gangplank while crossing on the boat to Ireland."
Underlined: "There were 1,029 pigeonholes built at first"
In the margin: "Nice use of repetition"
In the margin 4 pages later: "Now the repetition's getting annoying"
Page 190: something I'm still trying repress actually. Perhaps I won't share it.

So, what kind of annotations can you all find in your old books?

Ok, I just got off youtube (because I interweave blogging with other things like youtube) and I watched nerimon's latest video, and I think the idea is pretty cool.
So here are the badges I think I've earned so far:

Driving
Kind of a no brainer for a lot of people in the United States where driving is incredibly common outside of major cities like New York. I passed my permit test. Fibbed a bit when it came to logging how much practice I had behind the wheel. Then passed the driving test. And Voilà! Drivers license achieved.

Watch the sunrise
I done this on several different occasions - some more pleasant than others. When I was younger and my family went to the beach for vacation, sometimes I'd wake up before everyone else, go out on the balcony, and watch the sunrise. Sunrises always seemed different than sunsets - a little more golden maybe.
More recently I watched the sunrise as I pulled an all-nighter finishing an essay for class.

Be in a Parade
I was little so some of the details are a little hazy. I recall being asked by my horse-riding instructor if I wanted to be in the Christmas parade. I along with some other kids my age were pulled on a big trailer while some of the older kids got to actually ride horses decked out in Santa hats.

Mountain Climbing
I feel like I might be stretching this a bit. It might just be because I often don't think of The Appalachians being that tall in comparison to other mountain ranges. That, and we didn't have to climb/walk for all that long. An hour maybe? Anyway, it was last year on the Ecology field trip Amy and I were on. *sigh* Good memories from that trip.

Harlaxton/Europe. duh.
What was your not so favorite thing about 2012?
Well, I wasn't super fond of getting some kind of stomach yuck in Italy. Then again, I was in Italy, so it wasn't all bad.
What are you most looking forward to about 2013 (aside from VidCon and our road trip, if you’re going)?
Hmm, that's a good question. Well, Catching Fire comes out this year, as well as the next Hobbit movie. And the new Star Trek...mmm, Benedict Cumberbatch. Oooh, and The Madness Underneath is out in February. The Oscars...Wait, you probably mean things in real life...Well, obviously the road trip. And I'm exciting that Jill is going to Harlaxton. And Victoria is in Spain. Amber and Shelby will be graduating, and Shelby and Jessica are going to Honduras. Then Shelby's marrying Brian and moving to Haiti. ;) lol jk.
Also, my cousin Lindsey is getting married for real! I talked to her last night, and I think the wedding is going to be really cute. Also, there has been mention of a Scotland mission trip this summer, and it would be spectacular if I could go. I really need to get a job...Oh, and I'm strangely excited for Rachael's birthday, just to throw that out there.
Plus, I'm just excited to spend another fantabulous year with you guys! After last year, it's honestly very hard to believe I could ever top that, but my goal this year is to make it the best year yet!
If you could make your break from school last forever- the school year would just never start and you would never grow up and graduate and face real life, just hang out and chill and do whatever it is you do during break- would you? Why or why not?
I actually don't think I would. I get bored. I mean, I'd have lots of time to do stuff like write and watch Netflix. But that means I'd never graduate! I'd never finish anything. And no real life means no marrying Benedict Cumberbatch. So that's out. Plus, if it's specifically Christmas break, then definitely not, because most of it takes place after Christmas when it's just cold but there's no more Christmas cheer. Summer break would be a bit more tempting. I might consider making that last forever.
Would you rather have said infinite time during Christmas break or summer break? Or some other obscure break from the semester?

What did you like and dislike about our blog project this past year? Is there anything else you’d like to change, aside from  what we’ve already discussed (assuming we’ve discussed said changes by the time you’re answering this)?
Like: It's an awesome idea. It really helped me stay in touch with you guys while I was gone, and I loved that it forced me to write every week. I'm not the best at keeping journals, so I was really grateful for the accountability so I was prompted to write out a lot of the details of my overseas adventure not only so you guys could read about it, but also so I could remember it later. I also loved VEDA. It got us used to vlogging and I think it helped with our YouTube channel. Question Tuesday was obviously another favorite of mine, as was Disney Week. Something I'd change, in fact--which we have discussed but not decided anything--is to have more themed weeks like Disney week.
Dislike: Well, some days lost bloggers, which was disappointing but understandable. Oh, and I also disliked the controversy over what to use the Etc. section for. I'm still not sure what we should do with it. lol
Would you rather live in one city of your choosing outside of the United States, but be too poor to travel, even to visit your family and friends, or live here in Bowling Green and be able to travel anywhere within the country?
Aww, I'd almost say I'd live in London. After all, "when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford" according to Samuel Johnson. But the visiting family and friends thing seals the deal. Be happy, I like you more than London. I'd pick BG. At least I'd get to travel around here.  :P   or should I say "p (Sara will get it, I hope).

        Hello from the first Sunday blog of 2013, where Jill decides to take a mini-vacation. I believe I managed to survive a whole year of blogging every week and somehow didn't miss any days...so I thought I might miss a day. Sort of. I mean, there's this little paragraph here, so it's sort of still a blog. Idk. I was reading something the other day about how Americans give themselves enough vacation time (compared to the rest of the world) so why not start off the year with a bit of a breather (not that some of some of my blogs from last year were incredibly taxing on the mind or anything...).
        So, one week to relax, then the coming weeks will hopefully see progression in the whole Log Cabin Story thing I promised Anna Beth.

Hello from the first Talk Like a Brit Thursday of 2013! And there was ICE SKATING!!!
 I guess by now you've already read about our amazing New Year's adventures, and you've probably figured out that that whole "2012 words" challenge of mine isn't exactly happening. I meant to do it, I really did, but I was too busy working on other things. Lame, I know. But it's 2013 now! Time to look ahead, not behind. It's like the Bible verse I've chosen as my theme verse for the year:
"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." --Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV)
2012 was absolutely incredible, and it's difficult to believe that any year could ever top it, but I hope that 2013 will be EVEN BETTER! Besides, this year is our epic road trip, so that's gonna be SUPERMEGAAWESOMEFUN!!!!!!

Hello from I can't believe I missed my last day to blog in 2012!!! One of my new years's resolutions should be to not miss posting something.
2013 is here already and I feel like I haven't seen/hung out with you guys in forever! Maybe after you guys get back from ice skating tomorrow? Actually after not blogging for 2 weeks-ish, I feel like I have things to write about.
After working the whole week before Christmas, I ended up hanging out with Mackenzie after I got off work on Christmas Eve. I didn't feel too guilty about ot spending it with my dad because he hung out with Jane that evening. That night we sat around the kitchen table and hung out with her family, had a wonderful dinner, and then Mackenzie and I played cards with 2 of her brothers. A random game called...wait let me google it....Euchre (pronounced You-ker), a card game that only cool Michigan people know about. Whatever, I learned how to play a new game! It's super weird though.
For Christmas, I got up around 10:30, took a shower, and then my little bro got here and we opened presents as my dad cooked our lovely Christmas lunch. After lunch, my little bro went home and my Dad and I took a nap. Exciting times, I know.
The next morning I had to wake up around 4am and get on a bus to to to Detriot for WKU's bowl game. The bus ride got more exciting as the day went on because we traveled through rain that eventually turned to slush and then to snow! I found it hilarious because everyone was super excited to see real snow. However, because of the weather, we ended up changing into full uniform on the bus and barely not making it in time for our pre-game show :( and although we lost, it was a really good/exciting game. Katie and I tried to get food during the forth quarter, but we could only find dip-n-dots: delicious, but unfulfilling when you're super hungry for real food. It was around 11-ish when we got to our hotel--a SUPER nice hotel, one that you get lost in and had super fast elevators and stores inside the place. Anyway, we just wanted to get food, but because it was a Wednesday, most resturants were closed/too late to deliver. The hotel gave us a whole stack of flyers, though, of restaurnts that deliver and while going through them, we found 2 places that were open. So did everyone else...our order took about an hour to get there. After finishing our food, and other details that I don't want to type out but can tell you in person, we found ourselves walking along the river in about 6-ish inches of snow about 2am. When our group walked out the door, the doorman (doorwoman?) told us to "stay in the light" a couple people in our group chuckled and so she said "I ain't sh**ing you, stay in the light." I took it as a warning. But nothing happened, and I was super amazed at my TOMS boots and how well they were in the snow, my socks werent wet at all, except for a little by my toes. We got back to the hotel around 4am and got up at 7 so we could be on the bus by 7:45 to leave.
On the ride back, I slept, woke up to eat lunch at a mall in Florence, KY (where the water tower has "Florence Ya'll!" written on it) and played Slender for the first time (I got 3 pages). We got back to BG around 5, I hung out with Mackenzie's family afterwards, and then passed out at my house after that.
Nothing else happened that week until the 30th when Mackezie, Mark, and I travelled to Lexington to hang out with some friends of Mackenzie to bring in the new year.
Today, I went shopping and made a fruit smoothie that I'm drinking while writing this blog on my phone.

Hello from the first blog of 2013!!!!! Lol, I feel like one of those people who comment “first!” onYouTube videos. First, guys! Anywho, as we’ve discussed, the blog is changing this year. Most relevant to me, Question Tuesday is now everybody’s! So, instead of monopolizing Question Tuesday this year, 2013 is going to have Topic Tuesdays. Which means that I take
a topic, and I talk about it. Which is basically just a regular blog… but it’s alliterative!!! You can’t expect me not to indulge the alliteration!!!! So anywayz, if you’d like to suggest future topics for me to talk about, that’d be really awesome. Or not. I can come up with my own topics. Probably. Like today! Today I came up with my very own idea! In two parts, no less!

Part I: 2012
So, 2012 has been a pretty great year. Just, so many cool things have happened! I mean, for one, we started this blog. I personally think it’s been a really fun way to keep up with what’s going on with everyone. There’s been Disney, and Vlogging, and challenging (often ignored… sorry, Anna Beth…),and just general happiness and friendship! And then there was kind of the
push that got the blog going in the first place- all the cool places that everyone went to. I got to hear about New Zealand, Britain, Haiti, and so many places, even though I didn’t go any farther than camp in Tennessee. Which was another awesome thing! Camp was the best! There was Jesus and amazingness and scarybutawesome trust falling and I’m so glad I got to go! Summer was also when I got my first job, and we tried to make a web series. That… sort of got put on hold on account of technology hating us… but I know that I had a lot of fun working on the script and filming and everything, and I’m still really hoping that we can eventually someday finish it and make it into a thing that we can watch.

Summer ended, and we all had to go back to school, but why would we let a little thing like that stop our fun? I know at Western we had sleepovers and bedtime stories (precedent having been set by our mini road trip to Shelby’s house to see her off to Haiti- the story of how everyone met her soul mate except Shelby doesn’t believe in soul mates will go down in history as the best bedtime story of all time), and I heard a lot about retreats and concerts and fun adventures from everyone who wasn’t here. Plus, I had the ongoing task of finishing 30 books by the end of the year, with Jill’s promise of either a prize or a surprise depending on whether I could complete the task. And I did! Which leads us up to New Year’s Eve and how Jill, Anna Beth, and I got to eat that cake. It was yummy. I’m sorry the rest of you had to miss out. We also experienced our own little apocalypse when the power went out not long before midnight- but don’t worry, we survived! And then the clock struck midnight (as Anna Beth dropped a beach ball and Jill played Auld Lang Syne on her iPhone. Such a classy way to ring in the New Year :) Which leads us to…

Part II: 2013
Now it’s 2013, and we have a whole new year to fill with awesome things! For one thing Shelby and Amber and GRADUATING in like 4months. How insane is that? I can’t believe my friends are growing up… so they’ll be moving on to real(ish) life. Even though neither of you are blogging full time this year, I hope you’ll stop by on occasion to tell us what it’s like on the other side of your diplomas :) Then Sanaa’s going to Chile to be all international and cool, and she had also better tell us all about her awesome adventures. And, most relevant to me, road trip is happening this summer! There’s going to be driving, and driving, and lots of driving, and also VidCon! Obviously I can’t predict everything that’s in store for us, individually and as friends, in the coming year, but I look forward to finding out, one day at a
time :)
