Not studying in a study room

9/21/2012

Hello from the study room in Cherry Hall. I like this room. It has fun memories and usually no one is in here. It is a little strange though...
---------------------------------------
Ok well, I was in a fairly good mood when I wrote that first bit, but since then I've had a conversation on the phone with Amy who was lamenting about all the stuff we have to do to stand out and get into medical school because she just got out of a meeting with Dr. Smith. Suffice it to say I'm now in a pretty foul mood. Just another list to tac onto the never ending list of stuff to do. Ugh, I already have so much to do finish this weekend. I need a break.
Let's just go into bliss land and forget the world exists for a bit, ok? Ok.
---------------------------------------
Back to what I was saying:
It's sorta strange being in here (I mean, not like strange strange since its just a study room) but the bright red sign outside the door that says you may only use this room if you are currently enrolled in an english class is a little off putting. I am currently in English 300 so I am completely allowed to be here, but what's the point of the sign? I don't think they go around checking people's schedules to make sure they're English students. And I've never seen this room so full of people that they need to limit who can use it (but maybe I'm just here at the wrong times). There are also religious and history classes that use Cherry Hall. Do they have their own study rooms? I don't think I've seen one--just faculty lounges. Hmmm, now I really want to go looking for other study rooms. Anyway, my point is why can't the sign say "for academic purposes only" or something? Am I the only one that thinks this? (not that it's anywhere near a huge deal or anything)
Also, not that this is relevant, but I really wish the students could take back over the big log cabin next to Cherry. Students were the ones that originally built it for their recreational use, but it became a facility place once DUC was build since DUC had much nicer facilities for the students. But since DUC is currently being renovated.......I just think it would be cool to hang out in a log cabin.
You know, it's also amusingly apparent that the Film Club definitely uses this English study room. The Blackboard is filled with the movie titles and dates they plan to screen them. Looks like the next one is going to be Reservoir Dogs. The names Tyler and Cody are next to it. I wonder if they're providing the movie or the food. Probably the movie. Also on the list are Raising Arizona, Evil Dead (my brother really likes that one), and Memento. Blood Sample's been crossed out. Guess it didn't make the cut.
So Sara brought it to my attention (lovely lack of transitions there btw) that I hadn't been doing a video of the week (or link of the week or thing I like of the week or whatever it was). Weird how I just forgot about it. But I shall fix that now!
I've been watching the Where the Hell is Matt 2012 video way too much recently. I thought I'd pick that one and the years that came before it.
Oops, I gotta run to my English class now. I'll link the videos a little later.

Love,
Jill
---------------
Update:
Ok, I'm back to link the videos. If you only have the time to watch one, I'd definitely recommend the 2012 one. It's the best. So here are all (I'm pretty sure) the dance videos from the past 7 years.
2005
2006
2008
2012  <----- this one's my favorite

Also, click HERE if you want to know a little bit more about Matt (the first 5 min.) and also there's some fun where he explains that it wasn't a hoax but he did do a funny speech where he jokingly claimed it was a hoax if you want to watch that too. If you're interested, there are also videos on YouTube of various speeches he's given on how he got people to dance, etc.

I also just want to say I had lunch with Anna Beth and Sara, and we had an hour long argument about Shakespeare and translations. We are nerds and I love that. (Also Sara is wrong, but she is entitled to her own "stupid opinions" lol)

Jill's International Holiday (Sort of)

8/24/2012

Hello from the last night I will be spending in my house this semester before moving into my new dorm room! (that feels a lot bigger than I expected!)
Also, this blog comes to you a bit later than expected due to my spazzy internet at the moment.
So...I got back from Florida today. I have a few interesting stories to tell.
My family and I spent 5 days at Cocoa Beach then drove to Orlando for a day at Universal Islands of Adventure. It rained a lot of our first day by the ocean, but it cleared up enough to take a long stroll on the beach where we came across not 1, but 3 weddings taking place within like 50 yards of each other.
I ended up amusing myself on the beach by trying to walk in other peoples footprints for as long as possible before they became indistinguishable. I thought about how John Green could probably think up some profound idea based on this walkinginothersfootprintsthing if it were a thoughts-from-places video, but alas you all are stuck with me and no interesting thoughts to go along with it. Other than a few rainy bits throughout the rest of the week, the weather was really nice. Nice enough to give me a bit of a sunburn anyway. There's actually this random strip on my arm that didn't get any burn. It's surrounded by reddened skin and I still have no idea how it remained unaffected. I mean, I wasn't half-shaded or anything. I was under the sun the whole time. Either the ocean didn't wash off that section of sunscreen or the part of my arm just decided, "oh naw, I don't feel like getting burned this year" Strange but kinda funny.
My brother and I spent a fair amount of our time playing around in the ocean. I was curious what things you all like to do in the sea because Cameron and I enjoy (I suppose you could call it a game?) jumping waves. You swim out until you're about chest or waist deep in water then jump and/or ride the waves as they come in over your head while trying not to get a face full of saltwater.
And I've decided that sand is somewhat akin to cigarrettes (to me anyway). It's annoying (it gets everywhere!), hard to get rid of (no matter how much you try to wash it off, there's always some hiding away and still sticking to you) and yet its so addicting to play in (not that I personally am addicted to ciggarettes - I find them disgusting as you all know). Half the time I was on the beach I was trying to convince myself not to mess around with the sand too much because I knew I'd regret it later, but I just couldn't stay away. Here are a few results of the "addiction".

I think Sand forgets to be awesome sometimes....

Also I wanted you all to know that this dessert was absolutely fantastic. Big rice krispie treat with white chocolate fudge on top. We should try making it sometime.

We also came across an interesting nature trail with a mini-boardwalk through the undergrowth. It was pretty cool. Random: It kinda made me think of that butterfly effect short story (A Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury). Didn't the characters walk on some kind of raised platform as they hunted dinosaurs? Sort of similar, right?

And now we take a step closer to what I'm sure you all are more interested in: our excursion to Universal Islands of Adventure (our primary intention was Harry Potter World, but the rest of the park was really fun too)
I just have to mention how international the whole day was. I don't think I've ever heard that much variety of languages and accents spoken around me in my life. It was so awesome! Our whole vaction (the people around us anyway) was actually a lot more diverse than I was expecting. It started off with the British family I mentioned in my last blog at the car rental place. And then it just kept coming. While at Cocoa Beach I heard Chinese (I'm assuming it was Chinese of course. I think the family was Chinese, but I could easily be wrong) Russian, and what I think was Dutch (but once again, I was assuming. My ear for languages is nowhere near good enough to distinguish alot of the different European languages). And then in Orlando, the family eating breakfast next to us was definitley speaking French (somehow, little kids speaking French is just really cool to me) and at the park there was German, French, and Spanish; and lots and lots of English accents.  It's possible I heard more British people talking than American (Though only one Scottish women who I'm not sure was Scottish since I only heard a bit of her sentence as she walked quickly past me.) On the whitewater raft ride, we shared our raft(boat?) with a Brit family and their hilarious kids (there was much screaming made by the children and my mom as they proceeded to get absolutley soaked on the ride, lol). I wound up spending quite a bit of the day wishing you all were there with me (particularly Anna Beth) since you all probably would have enjoyed it immesely.
But I've hardly even mentioned The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! It was Awesome! Fantastic! Brilliant! The main ride in that part of the park was totally awesome! and the Butterbeer is delicious! Everything was way overpriced, but it was totally fun experience and you all should go if you haven't already (especially Sara).
And now I suppose I should talk about the thing which you may mainly want to hear about that Anna Beth eluded to in her blog yesterday.
I met Alex Day and Carrie Fletcher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was just so unexpected. My brother and I were standing in line for the main Harry Potter ride, and I was kinda remembering that Carrie had mentioned in a recent video that she was going to Disney World and how cool it would be if she came to Universal too and maybe we were in the park at the same time. And about 5-10 minutes later who do I see walking in the distance to the back of the line I'm in? Carrie and Alex. And my mind was like "what?" "no way" 'dude" They were too far away to say anything without yelling and calling all kinds of attention to myself. And I wasn't sure if I would be bugging them (despite the TONS of videos of youtubers saying they don't mind being approached to say Hello and that they generally really like meeting people that watch their videos - I couldn't help the thought ok? It was just kinda instinctual) So, in tiny bit of a daze, I continued waiting in line with my brother, and we rode the ride and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Luckily, right outside the exit to the ride is a place to buy wands and other souvenirs, which my brother wanted to stop at to get stuff for his friends. So I was just kinda waiting for  my brother to finish and sort of for Carrie and Alex to come out of the ride. And my mom found us (having not ridden the ride herself) so I was telling her about how I'd seen these two youtubers I liked and wouldn't mind saying hello to and to please tell me if she saw a guy wearing zebra print pants. And she's like "you mean like that?" and I'm like "KLSLKFJNLSJFLSJ"
I look over, see them walking past, and kinda spaz and call out "Alex!" (I have no ideo why I didn't call out "Alex!Carrie!" I blame the zebra pants. lol.) Anyway, they turn around and take a few steps toward me. I walk over and this is where I kinda blank memory-wise, but I shall do my best to recall everything that happened because Anna Beth asked me to (or was it Rachael? idk).
I said something like "Hi"
They said something like "Hi"
I said something like "I like your videos" or "I watch your videos. They're cool"
And He said something like "Yeah? Thanks. You just come off the ride, too?"
I said something like "Yeah, it was awesome, wasn't it?"
[I think something else ride related was said here, but I can't really remember what. something along the lines of we all liked the ride]
then I said something like "Would it be really weird if I asked to have a picture with you?"
He said something like "No, of course not!"
I then give my camera to my mom who has been standing a little back. Then Carrie, who I only then realize I haven't really addressed properly starts to step out of frame probably thinking I just want a picture with Alex. And I have another mini-spaz-attack (can't really control them :/ [oh and btw, you all know these are purely internal spazzes, right? I wasn't actually flailing around, at least I really hope I wasn't :P])  and say something like "No, wait. Will you be in the picture too, Carrie? I love your Disney Princess Song!"
I think she said "Sure, and Thanks" (I can't remember specifically because of the tiny guilt trip I was having at not saying much to her. She's awesome! Why didn't my surprised brain talk to both of them? I once again blame the zebra pants. They're quite distinguishable, aren't they? lol)
Then Alex says something like "Here, do you want to stand in the middle?" (When we had turned to face the camera I had ended up next to Alex with Carrie on the other side)
I said "Yeah sure"
Picture gets taken
I say Thanks
He says something like "no problem" followed by some version  of "Have a fun day at the park"
and I say thanks and some version of "You all have a nice day too"
then some sort of good bye
we go our separate ways
and my brother proceeds to tease me the rest of the day by recreating my spastic "Alex!" with quite a bit more drama and high pitched voices than I sure actually happened.

Anyway, I gotta say that they were super nice. I think 'chipper' is a very fitting word at describing my first impression of IRL Alex. He just had a very happy demeanor. And why not reinterate: they were quite amiable.

Now I can just talk about how kinda surreal it was. It was strange. Not like Strange Strange. It was just...different.. seeing someone in real life that you're only used to seeing in video format. The surprise factor may have also had something to do with it. There's just a pleasant weirdness that went with seeing them in person. It's hard to describe. And it kinda made my day, haha.
Also, I was both more and less fangirly than I thought I would be. I think I passed as a perfectly normal human being while internally I josseled between stomach-butterfly-somersaults and the more reasonable: "they're just people like you. but they are pretty awesome people nonetheless."

Man, this has turned into a pretty long blog, for me anyway. And I haven't even got to mention that Shelby's in town! I got back from having dinner with her, Jessica, Anna Beth, Sara, and Amy. I could go on writing about how nice it was to see her again and about how I'm looking foreward to hanging out with everyone this weekend and finally moving into my new dorm room that I'm kinda in love with at the moment. But all that can wait. I'm tired. I've been up since 4:30 in the morning to catch a flight back to Kentucky. And I still have to get the rest of my stuff in order so that I can move tomorrow. Sigh. I'm tired. I'm going to bed now.

Goodnight,
Jill

P.S. - Something random I learned this week:
The word decimate (the beginning being 'deci' = 10) basically means to take away 10 percent of something. So, slightly less destructive than what I always thought

P.P.S
Question of the Blog: How do you think you would react upon seeing a youtuber or celebrity you really like?

Surf, Sand, and funny tan lines

Hello from Florida, where my family and I are vacationing until next Friday :D
I had to wake up far too early (or "stupido'clock" as my favorite Canadians would say) to catch a flight, then drove for an hour to our hotel by the beach while my brother got hungrier and hungrier until his brain started to eat itself (or something like that). But anyway, we ate, walked on the beach, and I'm now sitting comfortably in bed writing this blog.
And because we didn't do much other than travel, eat, and relax all day, I shall try to entertain through pictures instead of text for a bit.

Look what Ecology's done to me! It's turned me into a birdwatcher :P lol

Guess I should include a picture of the beach. It was kinda cloudy today though.

What? Vacation means more YouTube, right? of course it does :D
Ok, so I've only uploaded 5 pictures and it appears I'm already breaking the internet here.
Oh, and when I was waiting in the lobby of the rent a car place while my mom and brother picked up the car there was a British family waiting next to me. They had twin boys around 7-sih. Thought you all might enjoy knowing that.
Not really much else to say though. Next week's blog may be more interesting (we're going to Harry Potter World later this week! - be jealous Sara).

Love,
Jill

Things and Stuff and Words

8/10/2012

Hello from oh crap it's Friday. I've been home for the last few hours just watching YouTube again, and I totally forgot I was supposed to blog today until just now (which was before you decided to remind me Rachael :P). It's 10:11pm, let's see what I can write in about 2 hours.
Today was a very productive day of shooting for Expect Squirrels. We shot all of episode 7 plus a small segment of episode 5. I'd like to thank all the extras that came out to help out today (though I'm pretty sure none of them read this blog). Tomorrow's probably going to be a long day. Most of us have to get up at 7 to go pick up our male lead and finish all of his scenes. Should be fun though.
I think I mentioned last week that I wanted to respond to some things in Sara's blog. Let's see if I can remember what those were.....
I feel like I wanted to continue the discussion of the subject brought up by Richard Fuller's quote. Though I can't really remember what I wanted to say....
It's kind of interesting that both he and Sara would probably agree that people shouldn't just waste away their lives doing nothing of substance. Sara's completely valid point was that people could waste their lives away only learning and never using what they've learned. Fuller's point, at least I think (I could be completely wrong, feel free to comment if you think so), is that people could waste their lives away doing pointless activities instead of bettering themselves (and, at least I hope, therefore bettering society). I mean, the world isn't really set up to actually make what he's talking about a reality. But the idea that we could all continue to actually live decently while pursuing what we what to pursue and  continuing to learn is interesting and appealing. meh, I've reached the end of my coherent thoughts on this. Actually, I probably should have actually checked the source for the photo instead of just trusting the internet that he actually said what he has been put forward as saying. oh well.
Oh, I think something else I wanted to discuss was this whole "cancer book" stuff. While there are books out there that are absurdly depressing and cancer-ridden for the sake of being depressing and making readers cry, you can't just think that any book with a character with cancer isn't worth reading. Not all of them are like that. The quality of the story should be judged on the quality of the story and not whether the protagonist or their close friend has cancer. There are excellent books (not just ones written by John Green) that might be referred to as a "cancer book" by some, but definitely don't fit that "category".
And I also wanted to mention (because I haven't given myself time to the last two blogs and it'll be my last chance before the Olympics ends) that my favorite part of the Olympic Ceremonies was easily the lighting of the cauldron. KALKFHASDFNABNFONODNOALDKFNKAJSNH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh the feels....  with the young athletes running and trading off the flame and the bringing together of all the different countries' fires to make one giant blaze *sigh* I loved it. I mean, I get that some people were upset that the fire wasn't visible to the entire city (which is tradition) and it would have been nice if, after the opening ceremonies finished, they had moved the flame to the top rim of the stadium for all to see. But it was totally worth it to have the flame lit like that. So awesome.
Also, can I just say how awesome the Olympics have been this year? Way to go Great Britain with your most successful Olympics of recent history (I think ever actually). Then there's this. Poor guy. Gotta be one of the most embarrassing moments in Olympic history. But this is funny. And this. And I'll stop with my Olympics love here. otherwise I might go on for awhile (whichthenmightleadtoslightrantingonsomeafewissues)
But the memes resulting from this Olympics have been great. (I think the USA is actually in the lead again medal-wise for now, so that pic isn't really relevant, but still a little amusing) And Curiosity has landed on Mars! Just felt the need to include that sentence for the nerd-points. But it really is cool. Years of work have paid off for NASA. But something completely random, did you all know that apparently the on-board computer system of the newest robot-resident of Mars is actually less powerful than an iphone4s? Interesting.
Meh, I think I've written enough for one blog. Plus it's a bit more topic driven than I think it has been recently. So there's that.

Love,
Jill

Happy Esther Day!

Hello from my bedroom.
I just got back from Rachael's house, so I only have like 30 minutes to post something. This week has been good. It's been very Olympics heavy for me. (Istillloooovvveeeeetheolympics! [despitesomeoftheannoyingcontroversyoverdishonestyincompetingorthefactthatnbccan bekindaannoyingbynotshowingsomethingsthatiwouldliketobetelevsedtoamericanaudiences]) And we've started filming for our webseries, which didn't exactly start smoothly, but I think we're getting better at it. We decided to skip filming today though. Instead, Sara, Anna Beth, Rachael, and I celebrated Esther Day! For those of you that don't know, Esther Day is a nerdfighterian holiday wherein you tell people that you love that you love them, particularly friends and family . It honors nerdfighter and friend to the vlogbrothers, Esther Earl.
If you'd like further info, check these out:
Esther Day 2011
Esther Day 2012

So we just spent the day together. We had fun playing around in Toys R' Us, and then we went to Rachael's house where we made a cool cake and made plans for when we one day travel to Europe together (and climb the Eiffel Tower 'without ropes' as Sara likes to say.)
Picture

So, yeah. Our Esther Day was fun. I would have had more to say on stuff (like I was planning on replying to a few of the things from Sara's blog. but I've run out of time [it's 11:59] so I have to post now]

-Jill

P.S. I Love you guys!

London 2012!!!

Hello from Anna Beth's house and the beginning of the 2012 Olympics!!!!
Sara, Rachael, Anna Beth, and I had an awesome Olympics party for the Opening Ceremonies, including an international feast of tacos, fish n' chips, pavlova, and fish fingers and custard. (We would have had some Italian and Japanese food to have even more variety, but sadly achoo it got left behind in the mad dash to find a working TV that actually had the right channel).
Anyway, this year's opening ceremonies were so awesome! I love the Olympics! I need to get my TV working properly again so I can watch the events. (Woot! fencingswimminggymnasticsetc!!!!)

The following is what Sara and Anna Beth decided to write while I was away from the computer for a second. I'll leave it up so we can all laugh at how untrue it is.
[Today was also successful in that we all decided how much we love Sara. She is absolutely our favorite person in the whole world. I mean, she's just so great, don't you think? She's so witty and groovy and cool and funny and smart and amazing and just generally we are all so lucky to  be friends with her. You know, she didn't even want to watch the Opening Ceremonies, but we knew that the party would be no fun without her. And it was just such a great experience with her being the life of the party! If only there were more people like Sara in the world. Then we could be around her all the time, instead of having to share her with her family and other people. It's just so sad that she has to be away from us sometimes. :( And that's really the most important thing I have to say about this week- Sara is the best, and I mean it.
But then the torch bearer fell and David Tennant saved the Olympics!]

And that's the end of that absurdity, lol.
Today was also successful in that we basically finalized the costuming for some of the characters of our webseries! (webseries coming this fall!)
Oh, and apparently Rachael, AB, and I have decided we want to play cookie roulette. I both look forward to this and am a little horrified by this decision lol. (Cookie roulette: some cookie are normal, others have random things like beef jerky or mustard baked into them)
Let's see, what else can I mention? Oooh! Sara, I just wanted you to know how much fun I end up having thinking up questions for you just because I'll end up either thinking of or finding random questions that I inevitably looking up the answer to myself. I've found out some ...well, I find them interesting at least. Like the question: "Where do they put toe tags on cadavers without legs?" Evidently, if there's no foot, the tag is on the ankle. if no leg, it's on the wrist. if no limbs at all, the tag is just put in the bag with the body. Or I could tell you about less morbid things I've found out while researching questions. If no one buys a ticket for a movie (if it's at a commercial theater) they still show the movie, just in case someone buys a ticket halfway through. Or, the realization that you can't blow bubbles in space. Or the interesting thought of what "macaroni" actually refers to in Yankee Doodle leading to researching the meaning behind all the lyrics.
meh, this blog is long enough now. Thanks Sara and AB for writing most of this for me!

Love,
Jill

Road Trip!

Hello from the kitchen where I am currently cooking myself some lunch before I hurriedly throw some stuff together for our trip to Nashville today. :)
Oh sleeping in late, how glorious you feel yet how you force me to rush to get things accomplished on time. But I get to see Amber today! woot! and check out the new apartment.
The Wednesday/Thursday write-over for the webseries was awesome. Though we didn't get as much finished as we originally hoped, I think we successful in at least trying to understand the characters more. And I think we finalized 5 episodes. 5/10 isn't....bad. lol.
Ok, I gotta go be productive before I can leave now.

Love,
Jill

Hello from my bedroom. Sorry no stream of consciousness creeping today. It's just me. I was going to do another vlog today, but I got caught up playing with new editing software. I was sick of moviemaker so I went on the search for something better but still free or at least cheap. The one I'm playing with right now is VideoPad. It definitely looks nice. It's even got the duel screens for clip editing like Adobe Premiere.
Picture
The quality of the videos it puts out are nice, but what you can see of the clips during the editing process is really laggy for most file types, which is really annoying. I've been trying to figure out if there's a way to fix it. If not, I think I'll try to find a different video editor. I don't know if it'd be something I could get used to.
Let's see, what else happened this week? I gave my dog a bath today. She was not very accepting of the idea, and I didn't exactly win her over to my way of thinking. But she is clean now. I walked out the door this afternoon to go to language lessons with Sara and Dwain, and I saw Lillie covered in mud and carrying a giant dog bone. I got the feeling she dug up a another neighborhood dog's treat, but it could've been given to her by one of our neighbors and she's just gotten it out of her own storage hole. Guess I'll never know.
Oooh! and today I finished reading Anna and the French Kiss (the book I was reading while Anna Beth creeped on us). It was fantastic! I highly recommend it.
Aaannnnnddddd I've run out of things to talk about. Maybe by next week I'll have the video editing stuff sorted out. but until then, I'll leave you with I video that made me chuckle.

Love,
Jill

And a few technical difficulties later...

rawr! so many difficulties getting this to work. first the video doesn't show up then I realize the song at the end randomly cuts off...ugh. I can't fix it, so when the music cuts off at the end, just play this song. If anyone has any ideas on why moviemaker decides to be a pain and cut off midsong, please let me know.
I realized I forgot to answer Sara's last question in the video. So here it is in text instead. Why did the chicken cross the road?

Bill Gates:  I have just released the new Chicken 2000, which will both cross roads AND balance your checkbook, though when it divides 3 by 2 it gets 1.4999999999.

Ronald Reagan: I don't recall.

L.A. Police Department: Give me ten minutes with the chicken and I'll find out.

Richard M. Nixon: The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did not cross the road.

Dr. Seuss: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed it, I've not been told!

John Locke: Because he was exercising his natural right to liberty.

Albert Camus: It doesn't matter; the chicken's actions have no meaning except to him.

Mulder: It was a government conspiracy.

Scully: It was a simple bio-mechanical reflex that is commonly found in chickens.

Darwin: Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically dispositioned to cross roads.

Grandpa: In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken had crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.

M.C. Escher: That depends on which plane of reality the chicken was on at the time.

Colonel Sanders: I missed one?

Plato: For the greater good.

Albert Einstein: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road crossed the chicken depends upon your frame of reference.

Pyrrho the Skeptic: What road?

Emily Dickenson: Because it could not stop for death.

Ernest Hemingway: To die. In the rain.

Here's the Link to the site that explain the Youtube layout differences better than I do. Scroll down for instructions on how to get the new homepage if you want.

Vidcon Links:
General recap - by Karen Kavett (ANNA BETH! LEVELS OF REALITY! lol, random) (This is the video I stole the cool montage from)

Cool Montage <--- I highly recommend this one. It's basically got everything rolled into one video (also Hank dances at the end. It's a must see)

Another Recap - watchmsnnow

Live performance (Felicia Day, George Watsky, Hank Green)

Charlie's speech (update* I was originally going to link to this video because it's the first one I found. It has Charlie's talk plus some singing from people I didn't recognize if you still want to check it out)

really behind the scenes - Corey Vidal/ApprenticeEh - watch Corey break into the Anaheim Convention Center and give an afterVidcon tour

Mainstage Video of Youtubers that couldn't make it to Vidcon this year

Stars at Vidcon - by watchmsnnow

5secondvideos recap of their panel - 5secondfilms is a youtube channel that does exactly what their name says: makes miniture films no longer than 5 seconds. Here's a recap of their panel in their own style.

Vidcon Interviews (this one links to Charlie's interview since I figured Sara would most want to see that, but you can check out the channel for a lot more like interviews with the vlogbrothers, mysteryguitarman, gregory brothers, jenna marbles, and many more)

A video made while at Vidcon

Vlogs from Vidcon:
AppA industry day
AppA day 1
AppA day 2
Kate day 1
Kate day 2
Luke

1 Hour Movie Project

This isn't actually a Vidcon video. It's actually from the BrainSTEM conference a few days before Vidcon in Waterloo, Canada. The conference was dedicated to science and other educational videos, and a lot of the education content creators on YouTube were there (like John Green, CGPGrey, Minutephysics, Vihart, etc). It's like a slightly nerdier version of Vidcon (as impossible as that is lol.) I thought the video was pretty funny so I thought I'd include it.

Oh, and the music heard in the video can be found here:
Goodmorning Sunshine - Alex Day
Forever Yours - Alex Day
Party-time Youtuber - gunnarolla

Ok, I think that's enough links for one post.

Love,
Jill

Hello from I suppose I should actually write this now. I don’t have any questions this week, so the blog will probably be pretty short.

Let’s see, what did this week consist of? I’m still on this odd Shakespeare kick. I ended up reading Much Ado About Nothing and then buying that play starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate. It was really good! Amber, you’ll have to let Sara, Anna Beth, and I know when they’re doing that play in the park thing so we can go see it with you.

I also turned in my volunteer application at the medical center and talked to the Director of volunteers this week. She’s really nice and I can’t wait to start working there. It’s supposed to take a week or two to process the application and background check though. They said they’re probably put me in the ER which sounds pretty cool.

I actually had something interesting to talk about this week, but I don’t remember what it is, and I’d rather go back to watching the Mario Marathon Live Stream. That’s probably what I’m going to be spending a lot of this weekend doing. These guys in Indiana have been putting on this fundraiser for Child’s Play charity for the last few years where they keeping playing Mario games until the donations stop. And they’re hilarious, especially when sleep deprived early in the morning. The guy playing right now just finished a challenge where he had to play a level not facing the screen but turned around facing a mirror that reflected the screen.

Here’s a link to the live stream: mariomarathon.com

Check it out if you want. Maybe encourage some people to donate.

That’s all I have for this week.

Love,
Jill
